Shimano Deore XT CS-M8100 12-speed Cassette

The original MTB group continues its legacy of remaining the standard for mountain bikers everywhere. Nearly three decades in, the Deore XT brand is defined by its trail-tested durability, reliability, and performance. As mountainbiking becomes faster and faster and the terrain even more technical, the M8100 series aims to give the rider the necessary feeling of confidence and safety.

Following the principle of passing on the experiences and technologies of the top series, the Deore XT incorporates the innovations of the high-end XTR components. Accordingly, the new 12-speed groupset features, of course, Micro Spline and Hyperglide+.

Shimano Deore XT CS-M8100 cassette

The Shimano Deore XT CS-M8100 cassette features the Hyperglide+ technology, which guarantees high shifting speed, precision and smoothness when shifting up and down and contributes to an extremely quiet drivetrain. The 12-speed cassette is available in 2 versions: 10-45 and 10-51 teeth.

The 10-45 teeth cassette produces as few gear jumps as possible, while the 10-51 teeth cassette covers a wide gear range. Both versions have an aluminium spider construction, and the two largest sprockets are made of aluminium each as well. This not only reduces the weight but also improves robustness and longevity.

Hyperglide+

The conventional Hyperglide technology ensures smooth shifting thanks to small shifting ramps, which guide the chain towards the next larger sprocket. Also, Hyperglide+ uses this functionality but applies it in the opposite direction, too, preventing the chain from falling when shifting downwards. The result is a smooth and consistent shifting in both directions, free of vibrations and without disrupting the cadence.

Micro Spline

The aluminium freewheel with 22 evenly spaced teeth keeps the cassette firmly under control for immediate response and also allows the use of a 10-tooth sprocket. In addition, the smaller and compared to the usual Hyperglide freewheel bodies prevents rotor damage.
