After riding around 23 km of rough terrain with my dropper post, I can honestly say that the Selle Italia S5 has exceeded my expectations. It feels incredibly comfortable, and for the first time in a long while, I didn’t experience the numbness that I used to get with my previous saddle. Even after sitting for extended periods during the ride, I had no pain or discomfort.
For me, it was definitely worth the purchase, and I’m extremely satisfied with its performance. The only downside is that I’m a bit concerned about the carbon rails. My dropper post’s saddle clamp seems to need around 10 Nm to keep the saddle completely stable, while the recommended maximum torque for the carbon rails is only 8 Nm. I’m hoping this won’t become an issue because I certainly don’t want to risk damaging the rails.
Other than that concern, I’m very happy with the results. The Selle Italia S5 has made a noticeable difference in both comfort and confidence on long, rough rides, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to riders looking for a more comfortable MTB saddle.
