Wolfi's High Performance Center - Lactate Accumulation Assessment (LAA)
Lactate Accumulation Assessments (LAA) are designed to help athletes answer a very simple but important question about a key area of their performance:

How well does my body handle muscle fatigue at high-intensity anaerobic efforts such as Zone 4, Zone 5 and Zone 6?
The build-up of lactate or lactic acid is characterized by the feeling of soreness, burning and fatigue in working muscle groups during hard efforts like sprinting and lifting heavy weights to failure. In cases of repeated high effort, the build-up of lactate can result in cramps.
The body has natural pathways for dealing with the build-up of lactate mostly via the kidneys and liver. In cases of repeated high effort, the build-up of lactate can overload the body's ability to handle it.

Why do we assess your body's ability to deal with lactate build-up?
Utilizing the LAA we can gauge the appropriate training level where lactate levels exceed your baseline but can be sustained for prolonged periods of time.

Why is the LAA important for you?
The fundamental information we gather during your LAA assists in identifying accurate and fully customised training zones specifically for you and your training regime. This gives us great insight into the type of athlete you are, your strengths and areas of improvement.

How should you use the information from your LAA?
You can of course just do 1 test as a baseline reading to set your training zone but we feel there is far more potential to be unlocked by periodically doing LAAs as you progress with your training.

*We recommend doing 2 to 4 LAAs a year or 1 test every 2 to 3 months during your race season. This assesses how your body metabolises lactate and can be a key indicator of performance improvement which helps us to re-assess and adjust your training zones.
