Colnago is colors, Colnago is design.
As well as for the quality of its frames, Colnago has always been recognised for the originality and uniqueness of its liveries. From the retinato (netted) texture to the art decor, passing through the frozen colors, the Cambiago company has never ceased to impress.

The latest Colnago combines these aspects. It should not be considered simply a limited edition bicycle, but a unique piece to collect. Totally handmade in Italy - born from the collaboration between the company of the Ace of Clubs and one of the most appreciated contemporary designers of the cycling industry: Motoki Yoshio, from Japan, who has been living and working in Milan for 25 years

Rispetto and Armonia, these are the project’s keywords. Respect for the tradition and quality of the C series Colnago and Harmony in highlighting the parts from which the frame is formed.

Harmony,” says Motoki, “also means pleasure, balance, what I would like to feel riding this bike. When cycling is in complete harmony with the environment, those who ride live a unique experience. In the same way, a design becomes unique when it is in perfect harmony with the product

The design of the Motoki Yoshio x Colnago color scheme started with analysing the geometry of the frame and the intersections of the parts from which it is composed. The different colors are arranged along the lines of the junctions. They are a tribute to the tradition of the Colnago C series. An iconic product, the ultimate expression of Italian carbon craftsmanship. The C68 represented a change in the C series, with the move away from the sharp edges of the junctions. Motoki Yoshio’s challenge was also to maintain and emphasise the C identity over a frame with more innovative shapes. In a first phase the Japanese designer traced the lines of the frame components and associated them with strong colors - as is typically the case in the design phase. The nuances came later, to give even more harmony and highlight even better the main components.

THE PERFECT HARMONY

The design color scheme began with the analysis of the geometry of the frame and the overlap of the parts that compose it. The different colors are arranged along the lines of the joints. They are a tribute to the tradition of the Colnago C series. An iconic product and at the same time the ultimate expression of Italian craftsmanship. The C68 represented a change in the C-Series by moving away from sharp edges. The challenge for Motoki Yoshio was to maintain and emphasize the identity even in a frame with more innovative shapes. In the first phase, the Japanese designer traced the lines of the frame parts and combined them with bold colors - as is customary in the design phase. Later, the shades were added to create even more harmony and better highlight the main components.

THE PERFECT FRAM

The C68 represents a high point in Colnago's evolution and history. It is the point where 68 years of frame design meet the future. The C68 is simply a milestone.

THE PERFECT HEAD TUBE

The split head tube is now stronger, lighter and more adaptable than ever before. The number of parts has been reduced from 8 to 6, saving weight and machining time.

THE PERFECT FORK

The fork of the C68 has been completely redesigned to offer more comfort to the rider, but also to improve the ride quality. It is stiffer and more resistant and weighs 40 grams less.

THE PERFECT HANDLEBAR

Normally, integrated handlebars are built from several carbon parts that are glued together either at the drops or at the stem. However, the Colnago CC.01 is made from a single piece, a monocoque, which helps to save weight as well as increase stiffness.
